This weekend I headed off to London with my mum to attend the Knitting and Stitching Show at Kensington Olympia. I went when I was at university and thoroughly enjoyed it, so I was looking forward to going again. It was two halls filled with a fantastic array of makers, craft supply sellers, fabric shops and artists, and a whole array of fantastic companies and craftspeople showing off their fantastic products.
There were also lots of exhibits, including The Knitted Feast competition, featuring a table laden with wooly food that still looked good enough to eat, the National fashion Textiles Competition where talented A-Level and GCSE students showcased their amazing surface decorated fashions, and an art gallery section where talented artists showed off their amazing creations.
The Knitted Feast Competition - A fantastic array of fuzzy food!
The National Fashion Textiles Competition - A brilliant show of talent in a whole range of different medians, from feathers to felt and paper origami.
Sew La Di Da Vintage patterns - I saw this jumpsuit made up on the stand, and I had to have the pattern. The fabric was sage green with gorgeous printed sailing boats, twisting ropes and red and white life buoys. I am on the hunt for the fabric as I speak!
A gorgeous selection of fat quarters and picot edged bias binding - Not necessarily to go together but I did love the patterns
Chaco chalk pen for marking out designs and embroidery needles.
Hand-dyed embroidery threads in a fab range of colours. I picked a petrol grey, pink and a rainbow skein and can't wait to see how they shine against a plain calico.
Selection of DMC threads, cotton and more embroidery needles, I certainly won't run out!
Here are a selection of the companies that I saw at the Knitting and Stitching show. They all had very inviting stands and lovely products that were so inspirational.
